Episode 21 – Free Phone!

UPDATE – Sipgate went out of business Oct 2013.

So I bet you are looking at the title going.. WTF?!  Or not… anyway in this magical episode I blather on about how to talk to friends and family for free via the interwebs and traditional phones.  But lets face it, unless you are here by accident, if you are listening to me yap you probably have no friends anyway…

So right below here is the show and some link-a-doos. Oh P.S. this is the least edited episode so far, so let me know about the quality.

Aaaaand the links…

And the stuff you can buy – yes I get a cut… (please feed my children by clicking on the links below (and elsewhere) then buying stuff…)

Episode 20 – Social Economics

So I just woke up off the couch, not sure how inspirational the text here will be, and I did get a bit spacey at the end of the episode so stick with it and you’ll feel better when it’s all over, like a scary car ride <whew it’s over!>.

Times are tough.  How do we get through them easier?  Use your social net as an economic boost.

Today we discuss some aspects of Social Economics and how we can use them to better our lives and our wallet.  Follow me along as I start to babble at the end.

This is also kind of Our First Episode of the MTP Book Club – I wonder if it will be as popular as Oprah?  Not likely.  This book is “Commune” by Lazlo Zalezac and I highly suggest it.  I am on my 3rd or 4th reading of it now.  It’s free online so no excuses.

Anywoo here is the podcast and below that there should be a link or two to important things.

Episode 19 – Travel Tips

So in this episode I thank the Veterans for allowing be to be a fat lazy load.

I also feature some travel tips, I could list them here but why would I make a podcast then?  It would just be a blog and you wouldn’t get to hear my voice.

Ok some bullet points…

  • Airline Tips
  • TSA tips
  • Kids Travel Tips (thanks to my High School buddy Stephanie!)
  • Car rental tips
  • Hotel Tips

[display_podcast]

And below as is usual a crapload of links (yeah I get a piece of it)

Cool Contest for Shooters

Ok this will not be a normal thing but hey this looks like a good deal for those of us who are shooters.

As you know I listen to The Survival Podcast and since Jack over there is a big boy and has actual listeners, he also has advertisers. (one day when I grow up, and you lovely folks spread the word I will too!  I’ll try to make it not to obnoxious…)  Anywhoo one of his new sponsors Bulk Ammo is having a sweet contest for 500 rounds of ammo and an ammo box for storage.  I had already been looking at their site and they seem pretty reasonable so feel free to check them out.  If I win (and yes this is an entry, but if I didn’t feel like they looked like a good company I wouldn’t do this) I’ll take the 500 Rounds of 9mm.  You can also choose .40, .45, or .223 .

So you shooters, that’s a day or two at the range, the rest of you can just ignore this.

Episode 18 – Retirement Savings

So a bit of self promotion here, I sound like poo on this one.  I was woken up (is that even a word?) by my email telling me someone had actually asked a question!  I was so excited that I ran to the “studio” (note the studio is a corner of our “workout room” in the basement… the microphone sits on an old TV.) and knocked out the longest show yet.  Literally 5 minutes of prep on the back of another set of show notes while the laptop booted and BAM!  This little nugget of philosophical gold!

So what was the question that made me get off my comfy couch and actually do something? …

“Ok Brian Ponder me this….things I need to know when choosing how to invest my money for retirement. This stuff is damn confusing.”

I knew this would be a long show… So you want to hear it?  Click the link below to see all the good stuff.  WAIT!! one correction, I stated that a pre `64 quarter was worth in the “low $3 dollar range”  I was WAY OFF, that thing is damn near worth $5, however the point stands, that the value of gold and silver hold over time.  Ok now listen and snicker when I say silver is $3 for a quarter… he he he… [display_podcast]

That’s the show, right up there…

Some points….

  • You should be saving to retire by 50
  • You can’t be saving if you are in debt, so get out of debt.
  • Use caution when saving in “Retirement Accounts” (401k, IRA, etc)
  • Money isn’t the only thing to be saving for retirement – Property…
  • Check out Gold and Silver

Now the magic links, when you click the things below they take you to other worlds, welcome to the interwebs!

Episode 17 – People are Animals

Yea People are animals, and we think like animals, and we are being herded like animals.  My insight into how the human animal brain works.  This episode is dedicated to KHHM (whatever that means).  I am totally disorganized and totally go off on a rant with this one, so it should be entertaining.  Also this episode is minimally edited so it should get you to sleep so much quicker than normal, right Kim?!  Damn this is the longest episode yet.

See right up there ^ That’s the podcast.  Of course you can also get us on iTunes.

Ok so here are some Amazon Links for books that I find relevant.

Ok Glad to see you, now get out there and spread the word and comment in the blog so as I don’t feel like an old man.

Have a great day,

Brian

Episode 16 – EMERGENCY Do1Thing Oct 31st

This may be the most important MTP episode ever made.  It’s quick at less than 11 minutes but has very important information for your future and the future of your family and friends.  Do1Thing released new information on their facebook page the other day and I was just now able to get the information to you.  Pardon my narration as I felt rushed by the urgency of the matter.

If you don’t share this episode with your friends you are killing them, it is important that you share this with everyone you can.  The more who know now, the less you’ll have to fight later.

Listen to the podcast then check out these links.  As usual links from Amazon I’ll get a piece of but you may not have time unless you use expedited shipping, so check locally for necessities.

The Fact Sheet is here FACEBOOK I’ll also post them below.  Check out the Do1Thing.com website for more generalized information.

Here are two websites that have lots of information on these sorts of things ww2.zombieinitiative.org and  www.zombiehunters.org These people are experts, take their advice.

This isn’t a Moment to Ponder, it’s a TIME TO ACT!

Episode 15 – Do1Thing November – Emergency Supplies

Here we are another month, another podcast with the help (unknown by them) of Do1Thing.com.   Do1Thing is a program of “baby steps” in getting prepared.  And frankly any preparedness system that suggests that you get a sweater for your dog should also suggest that you smack yourself with a sock full of quarters, but I guess if you find that as a priority you should prepare for it.

So in this episode you get to listen to me drone on about being prepared so that little things in life won’t make you uncomfortable, don’t forget to bring a towel…  I know I sound like your mother, but perhaps she is right.

So after the flipadoo we have a sweet podcast and some links, including one to a sweet dog sweater, with pom pom scarf…(kill me)

[display_podcast]

Link to the Do1Thing November fact sheet EmergencySupplies.pdf

And now some sweet Amazon links oh and others too….

All Right, I’ve given you some tools and some stuff to think about, so go out there and get prepared.

Oh also go out there and spread the word, you know you want to… you would if you loved me…. {cry}

Episode 14 – Food and Water Storage

The government (aka, THEY or THE MAN or THE GUBMIT) say you should have a minimum of 72 hours (that’s like 3 days or something) of food and water available in your house in case of emergency.  I agree… sorta.

Dude you should have at least a week of food and water, and I would go so far as 1-3 months of food (plus a way to purify/decontaminate/filter) water.  You may ask “But wise and wonderful Brian, WHY would I need a months worth of food”  Well I’ll tell you, IN THE PODCAST… you thought I was going to tell you here, if I did that why would I record the podcast?  Geez.  You may also ask “Dearest Brian, with the incredibly awesome voice and inherent sexyness that you exude… Should I dig a bunker under my garage and fill it with 10 years worth of wheat and other supplies, and have beds and water and stuff down there?”  I say NO (unless it doubles as a sweet home theater) dude that is just a tiny bit crazy.

Right below this paragraph you will see 1 of 2 things, either a link to go to the rest of this post, or the podcast… Listen to it, then share with all your friends, and annoy them until they share with their friends.

The podcast and shameless product placements right below the flipadoodle. Continue reading Episode 14 – Food and Water Storage →
