Ep 34 – Intro to guns
So the next episode in our Self Defense “Mini Series” – an introduction to guns, in this episode I describe some of my philosophy on owning guns, using guns, concealed carry etc… you want me to sum it up? GET TRAINING!
Still totally tired and just busting out a show because they are late, so I’m keeping the chit chat to a minimum.

Important links, I get nothing out of these other than satisfaction. In Fact they probably have no idea that I am posting links to them. All I have to say is “you are welcome” 😉
Sorry, original post didn’t have the link to the podcast in it. Should be fixed now.
Good show Brian. I can’t wait for the pot luck! You said a lot of things I agree with. I did a lot of research before I bought my first gun (Mosin-Nagant 91/30). Definitely not a self-defense weapon, but brings down a deer nicely and pretty cheap (except for the ammo). Some of that research was on YouTube since I wanted to see the gun in action. Being the type of gun it is (Russian World War II bolt action rifle) the videos I found were pretty good. Calm people shooting at targets. Then you find guys who have AK-47’s doing what they call “dirt shooting”. I even saw a video where a guy went through three 100 round drum magazines and one regular magazine consecutively while the rifle was on fire. Then there’s the guy who gives his 9 year old an M1 and it nearly knocks the kid over. Unfortunately, these videos are a lot easier to find than calm people shooting at targets and those are the ones that people use to claim gun ownership should be banned.
So where is a good place for training?
Usually gun stores that have ranges will offer some sort of training. Check this site for ranges. http://www.wheretoshoot.org That will give you the basics, Tactical Response is more advanced training.
Also Tactical Response has a Basic class that teaches all this stuff as well http://www.tacticalresponse.com/course.php?courseID=60 but you may have to travel to TN to take it.
In Minnesota, the state government keeps a list of approved trainers for handgun training. Your state may do the same.
